| Curriculum: | The
Midland School District is a rural consolidated district, which provides
programs for students in grades preschool through high school. Midland
Elementary School is located in Lacon. Midland Middle School is located in
Sparland, and Midland High School is located between Lacon and Varna. The
District provides a traditional but comprehensive self-contained program
enhanced with group and school-wide activities. Midland Middle School has
adopted the concepts of the middle school approach and includes exploratory
classes and discussion/guidance groups. The High School includes a
comprehensive program including academic, artistic and vocational studies.
The High School also offers satellite courses, in-house advanced placement
classes, dual-credit classes, and a college “Fast Start” Program. Students
throughout the District have an opportunity to participate in a full range
of athletic programs, music programs and drama performances. The High
School has a very active FFA, RIVERS CLUB, and jazz band programs. Special education services are offered in-house and at out of district sites. The District is a member of the BMP Special Education Cooperative, which is a decentralized cooperative. The Cooperative provides supervisors, social workers and psychologists. The local districts employ teachers with cooperation between districts as needed. The District houses early childhood special education, resource special education programs, cross-categorical classes at all levels, and a severe and profound multi-handicap program.

Facilities Available: |
A full range of medical facilities is provided within the District. The Marshall County Airport, offering general aviation, is in Lacon. Commercial air travel is available from Peoria or Bloomington. Peoria provides three major medical centers. Lacon has a community library. The Lacon Park District includes a recreational area, which includes a community swimming pool. The Lacon Community Center provides services to seniors as well as providing other community activities. The area provides opportunities for participation in community theater with the River Valley Players. | |
| Recreation: | The District includes the Lacon Park District. It is also located on the Illinois River, which offers public recreation. The District is within easy commuting distance of Peoria which offers many cultural and recreational activities. Chillicothe is within a few minutes of the District and offers the Pearce Community Center which is a complete year-round recreation center with an indoor pool, track, as well as sports courts and training facilities | |

Cities/Towns in District: |
Cities and towns in the District include Lacon, Varna, and Sparland. There are three major housing developments outside of the cities. Lake Wildwood is a 1433 acre, 1850 lot recreational, private-gated community with two man-made lakes. Hopewell is a development on the west bluff of the Illinois River located between Sparland and Chillicothe. Grand View Bay is a housing community on the east bank of the Illinois River south of Lacon. | |

1. A resume that includes a formal letter of application.
2. Updated credentials sent by the applicant’s university.
3. Legal proof of qualifications to teach or be an administrator in the State of Illinois.
