General Assembly: Sonia Morrison, Chris Downey, Jennifer Lindstrom, Carrie Schupp, Terri Lambrecht, Missy Bade, Marge Watkins, Melissa Grandsart, Lori Blackburn, Lisa Stewart
Meeting called to order at 6:30 pm by Tiona Kimble
Secretary Report: Copies of meeting minutes. (see attached)
Treasurer Report: Copies of Budget available. (see attached)
Principal’s Report-Peg Frey, Julie Albers
· Chris Downey began with a funding request. The elementary school is hosting an Illinois Children’s Author-Janet Riehecky will attend an evening with Midland families. She has written 150 books. Mrs. Downey is requesting $200 to purchase notebooks for her after school writing club. Voted-Melissa Grandsart made motion and Wylee Bickerman 2nd.
· Julie Albers discussed the success of PBIS. 87% of elementary students participated in the celebration.
· Facilities discussion. Concern over girls bathroom. Also, bats have been evicted.
· Pictures for next year. Look at alternatives.
· Fire Department Prevention Week-Oct. 12
· Make sure and schedule parent/teacher conference
· Peg Frey explained about the mold problem and how it has been resolved. Students helped create patio to sit outside at lunch time.
· Peter Vick created mural for the gym.
· Team building activities-5th and 6th grade-very enjoyable for all.
· Conferences at the middle school-Oct. 19 and Oct. 22.
· FunBlast-Oct. 29
Market Day-Melissa Grandsart
· With 2 sales this year, PTO has made about $400.
· Pie Fundraiser-Order forms are due Oct. 20. Sell $100-$499-make 30% profit.
· Incentive program- Student who sells the most pies- $40 gift card from Walmart. 2nd place-$20 gift card from Pizza Peel.
· Need 1st grade parent volunteers-Market Day pick up Oct. 27.
· Request for Market Day to be added to the budget of $150. Voted on and passed.
Activities Report-Tiona Kimble
· “Back to School Night” had a great turnout. 50 people attended movie night at MMS.
· Grandparents Day-Oct. 7-8 volunteers. PTO will purchase cookies and drinks.
Funds Request-Mrs. Frey
· 7th and 8th grade field trip. Request amount-$280. Already approved in budget, so we didn’t have to vote.
· “Walk to Win” program request of $300 be added in the budget since it is a yearly activity at the elementary building.
Carnival Discussion-Tiona Kimble
· Discussion of parents lack of physical support with PTO.
· Options-Keep the carnival or bypass the carnival for this year?
· The motion was made to cancel the carnival for this year and voted as a group and was passed. Midland PTO will not be hosting the carnival this year.
· Other business-Sonia Morrison will be the SCRIP chairperson this year. Anyone interested in boxtops? Please contact Jennifer Lindstrom for information.
· Carrie Schupp entertained thought for PTO project suggesting a pavilion be built on the playground.
