From the Principal’s Desk…

We can’t seem to get away from winter weather! The weekend blast of cold air and snow reminds us that spring is still several weeks away!

Our 3rd and 4th grade teachers and students have been working hard in preparation for the upcoming Illinois Standards Achievement Tests (ISAT), which begin on Monday, March 2nd.  These tests help us to determine how our students are performing in comparison with other students across the state. It is very important that all of our 3rd and 4th graders are at school, on time each day of this important testing week!  We appreciate your help in making sure that children are well-rested for these important tests! And a BIG thank you to all parents and students who attended our ISAT Parent Night on February 26th! We appreciate your support!

It is the time of year that we begin planning for the Starting Blocks Pre-Kindergarten program and Kindergarten enrollment for the 2009-10 school year. Information about registration for our upcoming April screening dates is also included in the newsletter this month. For those families with 3, 4 and 5 year old children, please take note of this important information!

This is also a busy time for our Midland PTO. After a VERY successful school carnival (which you can read about in this newsletter), it is now the time of year to consider officers for the PTO Board next year. If serving in a leadership position on the Midland PTO Board is something you’d like to consider, please check out the nomination form located on the Midland website (www.midland-7.org) or pick one up from the school office. It takes the work of many people to have such a thriving and successful PTO! Thanks for your consideration.

Hurry up Spring!  We are ready!!
