The Tech Prep Students of the month for the year are:

 

 

September  Kristin Olinger 

 

Congratulations to Kristin Olinger for being selected Midland High School’s Tech Prep Student for the month of September. Kristin is the daughter of Pam Olinger.

 

During her career at Midland High School, Kristin has or is taking the following Tech Prep classes:  Keyboarding, Microsoft XP1, Software Applications, Photography, Introduction to FCS, Parenting, Consumer Ed., Commercial Clothing, Foods I, 2D Art.

 

She has been involved with Yearbook, Newspaper, R.I.V.E.R.S., Chorus and Band.

 

After high school, Kristin is planning to attend ICC and study in the field of Physical Therapy Assistant.

 


 

October   John Kargol

 

Congratulations to John Kargol for being selected Midland High School’s Tech Prep Student for the month of October.  John is the son of Bernie and Patti Kargol of Lacon.

 

While in school, John has enrolled in the following Tech Prep classes:  Photography, Chemistry, Algebra I, and many Agriculture classes. 

 

While in school, he has been a member of FFA, Science Club, and R.I.V.E.R.S. club.

 

John plans to attend ICC next year and is undecided in a major.

November  Nick Fitschen

 

Nick Fitschen is November’s Tech Prep student of the Month.  Nick is the son of Cynthia Eakins and Randy Fitschen..  Nick has been very active in Tech Prep at Midland. The Tech Prep classes he has taken are: Ag. Mech., BSAA, Animal Science, Horticulture, 2-D Design, and Work Base Learning Construction.  He is a member of FFA and R.I.V.E.R.S.

 

Nick is planning on joining the Operating Engineers Local 649 after graduation and become a Heavy Equipment Operator.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

December  Colton Poignant

 

Congratulations to Colton Poignant for being selected Midland High School’s Tech Prep Student for the month of December.  He is the son of Harold and Heidi Poignant of Lacon.

 

While in school, Colton has enrolled in the following Tech Prep classes:  Foods I, Ag. Business Management, Animal and Plant Science, Intro. To Ag., Advanced Ag. Mechanics and Co-Op.

 

Colton has been involved in FFA during his high school years. 

 

Colton plans on starting his own business with his brother, Harold.

January  Jason Kitts

Jason Kitts has been chosen as the January Tech Prep Student of the month.  Jason is the son of Dave & Laura Kitts. 

 

The Tech Prep courses that Jason has taken include:  Beginning and Advanced Ag. Mechanics, Intro. To Ag., Landscaping, AutoCad, Ag. Business, Algebra I, and Caterpillar Intern for two years.  Jason has been highly involved in school activities during his four years here at Midland High School.  The activities that he has participated in are:  FFA, R.I.V.E.R.S. and Science Club.

 

Jason plans to attend Illinois Central College in the Diesel Program (DPET) and major in Diesel Technology.

March  Nichole Fitschen

Nicole Fitschen has been chosen as the March Tech Prep Student of the month. She is the daughter of Cynthia Eakins.

 

The Tech Prep courses that Nicole has taken include: BSAA Plants and Animals, Photography, Keyboarding, Commercial Clothing, Adult Living, Foods I, 2-D Design, Drawing, and Algebra 1s  She is also been involved in school activities such as Chorus, and Falcon Football Cheerleading.

 

Nichole plans to attend cosmetology school (Tricoci university of Beauty Culture) and major in Cosmotology.

April  Heather Holocker

Congratulations to Heather Holocker for being selected Midland High School’s Tech Prep Student for the month of April.  Heather is the daughter of Jeff and Angi Holocker of Sparland.

 

While in school, Heather has enrolled in the following Tech Prep classes:  Animal Science, Photography, Digital Communications, Software Applications, Accounting, Intro. To FCS, Sewing, Foods I, Foods 2 and Algebra 1.

 

Heather has also been actively involved in extra-curricular activities during her high school years.  While in school, she has been a member of:  R.I.V.E.R.S., Chorus, Madrigals, Yearbook, Newspaper and Honor Roll.

 

Heather plans to continue her education at ICC and go into the medical field as a paramedic and working her way into the emergency room.

May  Zaida Murphy

Zaida Murphy has been chosen as the May Tech Prep Student of the month.  Zaida is the daughter of David and Zaida Murphy.

 

The Tech Prep courses that Zaida has taken include: Animal Science, Photography, Digital Communications, Software Applications, Family & Consumer Science, Foods 1, Painting, 2-D Design and Health Occ.

 

The activities that she has participated in are: FCCLA, Choir, Dance Team, W.B.L., Honor Roll, Musical/Play, Newspaper, R.I.V.E.R.S. and Yearbook.

 

Ziada plans to attend ICC for two years and major in Nursing.
