LEADERSHIP:

A premier high school requires leaders of the same caliber who at all times promote the school’s vision statement in the following ways:

CURRICULUM:

A premier high school provides students with an aligned curriculum that is engaging and technology rich.  This curriculum stimulates intellectual achievement and requires effort from both teachers and students.  Curriculum enables students to become productive and effective citizens who have learned how to learn.   In such a school district, the curriculum:

• Is aligned from grade to grade and is guided by specific and challenging goals.

• Stimulates active engagement on the part of the students, encouraging them to evaluate, analyze, and hone skills for future success, ultimately creating self-empowered, responsible thinkers.

• Realizes the goals of the state, but refuses to teach to the test.  The way students learn best and differentiation are at the heart of what and how we teach

• Reflects our school’s drive toward continuous improvement, seeking increasing opportunities for cross-curricular thematic units and inclusion of the arts

• Utilizes technology to foster student success.

A premier high school operates on the premise that a school can only be as good as the personnel that it employs.  Therefore, it is committed to recruiting and retaining educators with exceptional expertise in their respective fields.  In such a school, the staff:

Our Mission

Midland High School recognizes that its mission is to provide a well-articulated comprehensive program that has high expectation of students.  We believe that, in addition to basic skills, we need to provide a safe atmosphere where students can develop academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.

 We believe we must encourage students to be life-long learners who can adjust to the new and different work-based skills that are found in an ever-changing technological society.  We share responsibility with parents and the community to help students in developing a sense of respect for themselves and others, and an understanding of the differences between rights, privileges, and responsibilities inherent in a free society.
