
DISTRICT CURRICULUM COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Conduct needs assessment to identify priorities for curriculum area.
2. Conduct materials searches to identify existing curricula.
3. Establish priorities for curriculum development for the coming year.
4. Review projects in curriculum area every five years.
5. Recommend to Board of Education reprinting, revision, or deletion of curriculum.
6. Foster a dedication to continual change.
7. Encourage a collaborative instructional environment.
8. Encourage community involvement.
9. Evaluate proposals from building learning teams.
10. Suggest and implement district professional staff development activities yearly.
11. Meet four times a year to replace CCC.
12. Establish any necessary task force.
BUILDING SITE CURRICULUM COUNCIL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evaluate curriculum to determine effectiveness and validity.
2. Review resource material.
3. Promote collegiality across instructional discipline.
4. Facilitate articulation across building sites.
5. Make curriculum recommendations to administration, District Curriculum Council, and Board of Education.
6. Evaluate handbooks and other district publications relating to building climate.
7. Identify any gaps or redundancy in instruction.
8. Maximize instructional time within the respective building.
9. Provide support in the employment of new certified employees.
