GRAPHIC DESIGN
Course Description: This course has five main goals: First, to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in design; second, to address basic problems and applications in graphic design and advertising; third, to encourage students to explore the discipline of graphic design; fourth, to introduce students to the creation of computer generated graphics; and last, to foster creativity and experimentation.
OBJECTIVES:
1. Students will learn traditional "hands on" graphic design techniques.
2. Students will learn how to use the functions of Adobe Photoshop 6.0 to plan, create, and modify images used for commercial purposes.
3. Students will acquire the basic knowledge, skills and techniques to create art that is meant to communicate, convince, advertise and sell to chosen audiences, businesses and clientele.
4. Students will create typography designs, magazine layouts, logos, pictograms and stationary systems.
5. Students will also design posters for school occasions, CD covers, product packages and advertisements.
